The NetID is your unique access account, comprised of 3 lower-case letters and 5 numbers. Your NetID credentials identify you as a UConn student (or faculty or staff member) and enable you to access electronic resources on campus, such as the PeopleSoft Student Administration (SA) System, your HuskyCT online course tools, and technology resources in the residence halls. While your NetID status may be either ‘active’ or ‘inactive’ based on your current relationship with UConn, the NetID itself remains the same throughout your career at UConn.

Note: Your NetID must be ‘activated’ prior to use (not the same as having an ‘active’ NetID). NetID activation is a one-time-only, two-step process. If you do not have a social security number on file with UConn, you will use a NetID ‘activation code’ to activate your NetID which will be sent to you in one of two email messages; the first email contains your NetID, the second contains your activation code.

  1. Access the NetID homepage at
  2. Under the Find NetID section, click the Find button.
  3. Type your First Name and Last Name. (If you have Jr, or a number such as II or III following your name, enter it as part of your last name: example, Smith Jr or Smith III)
  4. Type your 8-digit Date of Birth in the MM/DD/YYYY format.
  5. Click the Find your NetID button.

  1. Access the NetID homepage at
  2. Under the Activate NetID section, click the Activate button.
  3. Enter your NetID and then click the Continue button.
  4. On the Activate NetID page, enter the last four digits of your social security number; or if you do not have one, click the ACTIVATE USING ACTIVATION CODE link at the bottom of the page. If you received a letter with a 25-character activation code, enter it in the Activation Code field, and click Activate. (Only select one ‘Activate’ option.)
  5. Click the Activate button.
  6. On the NetID Contact Details Change page, enter a Secondary email Address that you can use to reset your NetID password.
  7. Access your secondary email address, enter your Registration Code in the pop-up box, and click the Submit button.
  8. Click the Save Changes button.
  1. Review the password requirements. Note: the exclamation point (!) is not accepted as a password symbol.
  2. Enter your chosen password two times.
  3. Click the Set Password button.
  1. Once you have been automatically returned to the NetID ‘Home’ page, click NetID Tools > Set Password Recovery Options on the top navigation bar.
  2. Enter your NetID and Password if required to do so.
  3. Enter your mobile number, and then from the drop-down arrow, select your mobile carrier.
  4. You may also set a non-UConn email address or Secret Questions and Answers.
  5. You will be sent a verification code for both the mobile and email options. Use the code to complete setup of an email or cell phone password recovery option.
  6. Click the Save Changes button.
  7. Click Logout on the top navigation bar.
  8. Close your browser.
